Nigerian international, Kelechi Iheanacho has said he was delighted to score his maiden Premier League goal of the 2019-2020 season.
Iheanacho scored the winning goal after proving an assist for the goal scored by Jamie Vardy in Leicester City’s hard-fought 2-1 win against Everton.
Brendan Rodgers has preferred Vardy and Ayoze Pérez ahead of Iheanacho in The Foxes attack this season.
Iheanacho admitted it was tough for him being on the bench, adding that he is learning from one of the best strikers in the world.
The Leicester City number 14 told Sky Sports after this evening’s game at the King Power Stadium, ”I have been waiting for this opportunity, I know one day it’s going to come.
“I have been working hard in training every day to make sure I keep up to the standard.
”I am happy today, getting a goal and assisting Jamie so today was very good and it was fantastic with the whole team.
”You need to be strong mentally as a football player, it’s not easy not getting enough playing time.
”I know Jamie is a world-class striker, I am behind him and learning a lot from him as well so I am happy and I know my chance will come.”
