Everton’s Lookman in contention for first Premier League start of the season1 min read


The Anglo-Nigerian made a cameo in the Toffees’ loss to Liverpool on Sunday after recently overcoming a problem

Ademola  Lookman is in contention for a starting role when Everton welcome Newcastle United to Goodison Park on Wednesday night.

The 21-year-old trained with the rest of the squad on Saturday after missing several training sessions and was afforded a 27-minute cameo in the Toffees’ loss to Liverpool on Sunday.

The former RB Leipzig winger has made eight Premier League appearances this season as substitutes and contributed one assist.

However, the Toffees manager Marco Silva has confirmed that the youngster will likely be handed his first league start of 2018-19.

“100% Ademola Lookman is in contention to start. I can tell you now the game has passed, he had a small issue and only trained with us on Saturday,” Silva said in a pre-match conference.

Everton, seventh in the log, will hope to return to winning ways against the Magpies at the Goodison Park.
