Hermes sparks amusement online by launching new range of £335 designer FLIP-FLOPS

  • Designer label Hermes faces scorn for selling a pair of ‘summer sandals’ at £335
  • The shoes even feature a ‘foam sole’ with a ‘calfskin lining’ and ‘technical straps’
  • Social media critics said they were little different from cheap rubber flip-flops

They don’t look all that different from a pair of supermarket flip-flops costing £2.

So it is little wonder that the designer label Hermes has faced scorn for selling a pair of ‘summer sandals’ at £335.

The French fashion house’s website says the shoes, which come in three different colours, feature a ‘foam sole’ with a ‘calfskin lining’ and ‘technical straps’.

But critics on social media said they were little different from cheap rubber flip-flops shoppers could buy anywhere.

One wrote on Facebook: ‘Get that “clothes aisle in your local supermarket” look.’

Another said: ‘No ostrich feathers, diamante studs or appropriation of the stylish working class. Just c**p flip-flops.’

A pair of flip-flops is available on the Asda website for £2.
