Is this a sign Meghan Markle writes her own Instagram captions? Official Sussex Royal account uses the Americanism ‘holidays’ in new post promoting charity organisations
- Sussex Royal Instagram account shared a post highlighting charities yesterday
- The caption uses the Americanism ‘holidays’ to describe the festive season
- Latest suggestion Meghan, 38, might personally write the social media posts
The language used in the most recent Sussex Royal Instagram post hints that Meghan Markle might have been the anonymous author behind the caption.
The post uses the Americanism ‘holidays’ to refer to the festive season, suggesting Californian-born Meghan, 38, might have had a hand in its writing.
It is the latest in a long list of subtle clues that have led royal supporters to believe that the Duchess – a prolific Instagrammer and blogger in her days before meeting Harry, 35 – takes a hands-on approach to their social media account.

Earlier this year royal fans pointed out that several posts use the US spelling ‘organization’, rather than ‘organisation’ and ‘programs’ rather than ‘programmes’.
There have also been instances of dollar signs being used rather than pounds.
Last week the Sussexes, who are currently on a six-week break from royal duties, wished their 9.9million Instagram followers a ‘happy Thanksgiving’ – another nod to the American-born Duchess.
While none of these posts explicitly stated they were written by the Duchess – unlike others on the page with quotes or photos credited to Meghan – their use of language has left royal fans certain that she must be heavily involved in crafting the captions.

Yesterday’s post highlighted the work of nine organisations dedicated to helping others under the theme ’12 days of Christmas’.
It reads: ‘With the festive holiday season upon us, it’s also a reminder to reflect on those in need – those who may feel lonely, hungry, homeless, or may be experiencing the holidays for the first time without loved ones.
‘It’s an important time of year to help those around you who may be less fortunate, or who would appreciate even the smallest act of kindness.’
The use of ‘holidays’ in the first sentence suggests it might have been an American person behind the caption.
The post continues a tradition of the Duke and Duchess to use their considerable social media influence – 9.9million Instagram followers – to shine a spotlight on worthy causes on the first of each month.
The post was met with widespread praise by fans who thanked the couple for ‘doing good in the world’.
