A mother has been praised online after transforming her son’s bedroom into an ‘incredible’ fire station themed haven – complete with a fire engine bed and even a fake pole.

Clare Curtis, 30, from St Helens, Merseyside, shared the impressive makeover to Facebook’s DIY On A Budget Official on Friday.

Photographs and a short video showed her four-year-old son Elliot’s themed room in all its glory – with it boasting a fire engine bed and a fake pole all for just £100.

Labelling it the best setup they’ve ever seen, fans were quick to inundate the post with 11,000 likes and around 1,500 comments praising the room.

Clare explained that she had used brick wallpaper from B&Q to make the walls look authentic and added big red doors plus fake windows made from wood and old photo frame.

She added wooden sides to her little boy’s bed to make the fire engine look and finished the room off with a mini uniform, hazard signs on the wall, and a fire extinguisher prop, all from eBay.

Speaking to FEMAIL, Clare said: ‘My son’s now four and he’s been obsessed with fire engines since he was a baby so the theme was easy to decide.’

The thrifty mother added: ‘The whole room – other than the bed cost – me probably less than £100-£130.

Speaking to FEMAIL, Clare said: 'My son’s now four and he’s been obsessed with fire engines since he was a baby so the theme was easy to decide.'

‘I looked online for some ideas and found some similar things in America but most of the ideas I thought of when the kids were in bed.’

The mother was overwhelmed with the ongoing praise and replied: ‘Wow was not expecting this reaction thank you all so much for the lovely comments.’
