Queen Maxima of the Netherlands beamed as she and her husband Willem-Alexander met with local children this morning. 

The monarch, 48, is visiting the province of South-West Drenthe with the King, 52, today, in the north of the country. 

The royal couple will brave the temperamental weather and visit four towns around South-West Drenthe. 

During the visit, the royal met with local children and held a cocka 

Ater a busy time celebrating Prince’s Day yesterday, Maxima and Willem-Alexander looked relaxed and happy as they kicked off a day busy with engagements.

Maxima wore blush pink from head to do, covering up from the cold with a pair of  trousers tied with a neat bow at the waist and matching jacket.

Underneath, Maxima sported a light shirt with a funnel neckline with ruffles. 

She paired the outfit with nude heels and a clutch leather bag of the same colour, and wore an oversized fascinator on her blonde locks. 

Her light makeup accentuated her blue eyes and a stylish pair of silver earrings complimented her outfit.

At her side, Willem-Alexander looked smart in a blue suit with a red tie. 

While the sun struggled to pierce through the grey sky, the two royals beamed with their usual warmth as they arrived in the town of Jong Hoogeveen.  

They first were greeted by a crowd of excited locals eager to shake hands with the couple and took a few pictures.

A young girl kindly offered a bouquet of wild flower to the queen which Mazima graciously accepted. 

The royals later headed to a local pub where they sat with children who had prepared a banner that read ‘stop child abuse.’ 

Maxima and Willem-Alexander listened intently during the quiet moment.

As they braved the mischievous Jong Hoogeveen wind, the royals made sure to wave at the people that had gathered to greet them

Known for her love of accessories, Maxima wore her blonde locks down and adorned them with an oversized facinator

The couple was still recovering from an eventful day yesterday, where they celebrated the Netherlands’ Prince’s Day, which marks the start of the new parliamentary year.

Maxima and Willem-Alexander made an appearance at the Ridderzaal, where they were later joined by the King’s younger brother Prince Constatijn and his wife Princess Laurentien on the balcony of the Noordeinde Palace to wave to royal fans. 

Maxima, wore a floor-length maroon gown, which matched her stylish hat and glittering cape. 

Willem-Alexander also looked preened for the formal day in a morning suit, light grey waistcoat and pinstripe trousers.
