A Taiwanese celebrity has wowed the internet with her age-defying appearance and toned physique more than 40 years after being crowned a beauty queen.

Chen Meifen, an actress, singer and TV presenter, has been billed as ‘the hottest aunt of Taiwan’ for nearly three decades and can be easily mistaken for a woman in her 30s.

The 5ft 5in star, whose name means ‘beautiful phoenix’, attributes her incredibly youthful looks to her love for soup and ginger.

Ms Chen, whose name is sometimes translated as Chen Meifeng, won the ‘Knitwear Beauty Queen’ competition in 1975 at the age of 19 after a friend had signed her up for the pageant.

Instead of pursuing an acting career straight away, the crowned champion, from the northern Taiwanese city of Keelung, took up a part time job at a bank in Taipei – first as an operation then as an assistant accountant.

When she was 36 years old, she was billed as ‘the hottest obasan of Taiwan’ by Chang Hsiao-yen, the most influential Taiwanese TV presenter. Obasan is a borrowed Japanese term, which means ‘aunt’ or ‘older woman’.

Although no longer in her prime years, Ms Chen has recently stunned the social media with pictures showing her glowing skin, wrinkle-free face, firm abs and attractive curves.

Speaking to MailOnline of her tips of staying ageless, Ms Chen says she has the habit of drinking soup in the morning.

Ms Chen confesses that she is not a fitness fanatic, and finds it hard to motivate herself to go to the gym.

She has hired an instructor to give her weight training once or twice a week.

‘I know I need to keep exercising. I am jealous of those people who go to the gym out of habit. I still need to force myself sometimes,’ she admitted.

Because she wears high-heeled shoes every day, the 52kg (115lb) star keeps a special angled stepping board at home; and when she stands on the platform without shoes, her toes will point upwards, leaving all her body weight on her heels.

‘I will stand on it and gently use my hands to hit my limbs and joints. I believe it improves the circulation of my energy,’ she said, referring to the theory promoted by traditional Chinese medicine.

Ms Chen, who is now single, went through a ‘painful’ divorce about five years ago to end her 10-year marriage with her American-Taiwanese husband. Ms Chen told Taiwan media at the time that her partner had cheated and beaten her.

The celebrity, who has never had children of her own, had to pick herself up from the blow. But she says she is now looking forward to meeting her Mr right.

‘I want to take it naturally,’ said Ms Chen.

‘But men like young women, so it’s quite hard for me to find an ideal partner.’
