Thousands of members of the (MASSOB) Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, in companionship of the Biafra Independent Movement (BIM), had assembled holding rallies in principal cities of Ebonyi state. The celebrations were decoration of the 17th anniversary of a strive for the realization of the Biafran state.

 

The MASSOB members who engaged in symbolic marches round Nkaliki situated in Abakaliki local government area and Onueke in Ezza South council area of the state. In course of the march, the rallying individuals loudly sang songs in overwhelming support for their leader, the person of Chief Ralph Uwazuruike. The marchers without reservation paraded the Biafra flag as well as other insignias. Although the rally was well guarded with security most particularly by officers of the Nigerian police force.

 

Via a speech in course of the anniversary celebration, the MASSOB zonal leaders who preside Ebonyi North as well as Ebonyi central zones, John Nwifuru and Gideon Iloke respectively had remarked in face of the stuff opposition brandished by the Nigerian security agencies, MASSOB were unrelenting with strict focus to maintain the struggle towards the Biafran state.

 

Yet in face of the general One Nigeria philosophy, it is still admirable for the push MASSOB has accumulated so far to realize the nation. But in all struggle for sovereignty, the pages of the civil war of 1960s must never be reopened. Peace supersedes all!
