Security in our lovely nation have been a crucial challenge, keeping crime in check has been one task our police has been grappling sadly with. Armed hoodlums these days see armed robbery as a white collar job and would even not mind paying tithe in church. After all, they are not typically unemployed, and feel they could bribe fate with 10% religious royalties.
Such was the case of the armed robbers that attacked Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi’s house. The armed robbers numbering four according to Eagles media officer, Toyin Ibitoye, said the hoodlums made away with “valuable items including a white Toyota Highlander and an undisclosed amount of cash.”
According to the reports we gathered, Onazi’s father is also said to be hospitalized following assaults from the hooligans, after they managed to break into their home in Jos situated in Plateau State.
The player Onazj was well grieved with the unfortunate incidence even making startling revelation that the thieves had dropped a message behind threatening that, “this is a first in a series of attacks” they will mete on Onazi's household.
Onazi giving further details remarked: “Those robbers came, pretending they were there to deliver a letter to my dad at about 1.40pm on Monday, as soon as he collected their fake letter and asked where it was coming from they swooped on him, tied his hands, beat him up, inflicting machete cuts on him in the process.
“They told him this is the first in a series of attacks that they will launch on our house and that I( Onazi) will be their target the next time.
“Those guys took their time to take some valuable materials including a car and some cash but I am thankful to God they didn’t do more than that.”
This is absolutely outrageous, and a dent on our national pride. The salt on the injury is the pledge by the robbers to return. An obvious understatement of our security forces. Yet we are positive that nemesis has purchased handcuffs already waiting for them to be awarded with when they keep their promise to return.
