The pangs of corruption have so sunk into the flesh of our national treasury. The national cake was someone persons' birthday cake which they sliced at their relish. Our former leaders who so promised to sponge the nation of corruption at the end manured our nation more fertile for the monster to grow.

Four companies who were alleged to be involved in a money laundering case with which the former First Lady Patience Jonathan was a major culprit, have so far pleaded guilty before a federal court in Lagos.

Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited, Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited; Trans Ocean Property and Investment Company Limited; as well as Avalon Global Property Development Company Limited have confessed to indulging in the scandal pleading guilty to a 15-count charge before Justice Babs Kuewumi.

The trial which also cut across alleged individuals Waripamo Dudafa, who occupied the position of a Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to former President Goodluck Jonathan; former presidential aide, Amajuoyi Azubike Briggs; and former Skye Bank official, Damola Bolodeoku.

The three so far have still denied the claims pleading not guilty before the judge.

Yet this is shameful. The First Lady is the supposed mother of the nation who should breastfeed the economy and wean our society of underdevelopment. For her to be immersed in this $15m corruption scandal, the supposed former mother of our nation is washing our dirty national linens before a global public.
