The school is the centre of our modern society. The four walls of a classroom are the pillars of our civilization. We thus have to pass through school and the school passes through. And as outlined in the path set out in Nigeria, you can get into the corridors of university through the balcony of NECO.
So we see it is big news for our aspiring undergraduates that NECO has released 2015 exams results. This time around, NECO has announced an increased pass rate.
The results, which were published today revealed that 88.51% of the candidates had a minimum of five credits in subjects among which is Mathematics and English. When measured, this amounts to an improvement of 1% in the general assessment of students who sat for the 2015 exams.
Mr. Uwakwe who is the NECO Registrar has remarked that the 88.51% (which numbers 905, 011) who had had recorded 5 credits were drawn from a sum of 1, 022, 474 who had initially written the examination here in our country and outside,
A percentage of over 84% of the candidates had recorded credit pass and above in English Language while as regards mathematics, 80.16% got credit pass according to Mr. Uwakwe said.
He also added that NECO had sensed exams malpractices in about 194 centres, with the number of deregistered deregistered schools for related offences.
Mr. Uwakwe paid compliments to his predecessors as to the growth and improvement in the 2016 results revealed that the works of his predecessors are already bearing fruits.
This is great. Big congratulations to the successful candidates. The academic ladders still spirals far above NECO. Thus they must be prepared to read and eat books. After all aren't books herbs for the brain?
It is no new story that our nation is drowning in recession.
